Thanks DD. If I get the opportunity to sail the Aero I'll definitely report back.
To be honest there wasn't anything I didn't like. In the very unlikely event of turning turtle there isn't much to grab on to with the very smooth hull and no gun whale lip, but there is some Velcro type stuff that provided just enough grip. And with the short, light, fully sealed mast the chances of inverting will be slim anyway. Easy as pi to get up once it's on its side. |

Sensible, positive and giving a good sense of how the boat actually feels.
![]() Any chance you getting into an Aero 9? |

I took one out at Oxford on Sunday in 15-20kts and loved it. Really easy to sail, and utterly delightful. The rig is genuinely great, amazingly low loads on the main to go block to block and the controls were all very effective and well sorted. And the hull is fab, so narrow at the bow but perfectly stable and it feels small, like you're the boss of it rather than a passenger, but carried my 90kg no problem. Very simple but very well engineered.
Like a Laser but with Finn quality. A big thumbs up from me! |

Having never see this very pretty boat in the flesh, how is the hull molding joined to the deck molding?

Looks like a Little Hawk Mk2 Wind Indicator - elastic mounting close to gooseneck ![]() Er! Actually I am more worried about what he has on his chin! When I first met him that was impossible and he was already sailing a Finn ![]() Edited by rodney - 26 May 14 at 6:10pm |

Whichever way you look at it - it is a fabulous piece of kit.

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

On another thread there was mention of the low boom on the D-Zero. This is not the experience to date and I can only guess that this applied to only one of our three demo boats and was using a temporary halyard. The boats were rigged in heavy rain and, unfortunately, Sue and I were unable to be there leaving a depleted team to handle boat preparation as well as supporting those looking for a sail in a D-Zero.
Interestingly we had a giant (about 6' 5" and around 110 Kgs) sailing the boat at Hayling and he loved it. He didn't find the boom too low and when sailing against two other very capable sailors (one being Dan himself) he was not lacking speed in the 10-15 knot winds. |
