A Foiling Moth sailor had to be rescued yesterday by the RNLI, if you are going out on your own, then a VHF bought for less than £100 would be a worthwhile accessory to a boat.

Definitely the wrong boat to get into trouble with.  Looks like the wave action was mild.  Good thing considering how precarious his perch is and the fact that he in the early stages of hypothermia.  Do these boats even have a place to stow emergency gear like radio, water, or such?  What would the water temperature be?

Hand held VFH wouldn't take up much space. You could even have it attached to you.

Water temp would be bloomin cold!

Lucky sod is what I'd say. The tide down there is horrible. He must have been bricking it. Normally its a busy spot, but I doubt there was much traffic out there to shout for

They make it sound as if a yacht just sailed by. I trust that is not the case?

Anyone who goes out solo in a fragile craft at this time of year with no means of communication is an idiot ... who was it?

Good point seamonkey- even GRF has the brains not launch his untried, untested, potentially fragile and unseaworthy lump at this time of year solo.

Even a mobile phone in a waterproof pouch would have been better than nothing. Also solo sailing is not a good idea without at least a shore based person watching you or pair up with someone.
