What GoPro, including best connectors & accessories etc. should I get for filming our sailing on the 29er, along with a small amount of 49er, 200 and firefly sailing? (Along with perhaps some skiing, although not necessarily). I have looked but there seems to be lots of options that I'm not sure are actually needed. If nothing else, what does anybody else have? And lastly, what about this? http://sailprocameras.com/Sail_Pro_Sailing.html

hero 2 is best option as it can record in 24fps which is the uk tv standard. I'd make your own mount, as every boat is going to need a different mounting system.
N12- pure joy
D-Zero more pure joy

All of them can record in 24fps. The Hero2 will also do 60fps and 120fps for incredibly good slow motion. If you can afford it- Hero 2.

I have the cheapest version- the 960 whivh suits me fine.

FB me seb if you want to ask about it.

I have the Hero2, was bought for me at Christmas and have used it twice so far, once on my mountain bike recording at 1080 video which is great but you need a powerful computer to edit it. I also did pictures at 11Mp every second. They were great at Center Parcs, very impressed.

I mounted the GoPro to one of the Centre Feva's we took to Island Barn last weekend, I havent edited it yet but I shot that at 960, it looks great.

The mounts are the most expensive part, I have the outdoor edition (the mount options change between Hero 1 and Hero2. At the weekend 3 GoPros were mounted in 3 different ways. One used the Roll Bar mount to the boom, another used the sticky pad to the Boom and reinforced with Duct Tape, i used the handlebar mount, mounted to a short pole and tied to the tiller arm.

Once thing I note from reading the Facebook GoPro site is to teather the camera wherever you put it. Do not rely on any of the mounts. The best option is to use rope and duct tape to make sure it isnt going anywhere.

When I get a chance, more videos will be edited/uploaded.

Just bought a Hero 960, arrived in the post this morning.  Looks like a good quality bit of kit so I am very happy to pay £160 for it.  The mountings look pretty safe, especially with the little white lock that goes into the quick release bases. Thinking of using a roll cage or handlebar/seatpost mount for yachting videos and undecided on what to use for dinghy videos yet.

Are the mountings compatible with both the Hero and Hero 2 because reading above it sounds like they arent? I always assumed they were...

Yes the mounts are interchangeable between v1 and v2.

I personally use the handle bar mount to attach it to a 25mm aluminium pipe (TV Aerial mount from B&Q) and then duct tape this to the end of the boom

I have also spliced a length of dyneema around the mount bolt so it can be tethered to the boat. I would also recommend the 'floaty' back door. Bright orange and stops the camera sinking. I lost my first one when it go knocked off the boom. The tether saved if but when I tried to remove the tether I dropped it!!!
