Have recently bought a new sail for my contender, however sail numbers are slightly different.
They are on a black/grey laminate sail and wondered if there was any way of removing the numbers safely? Tips tricks etc Number is being changed from 646 to 620 A picture of the type of sail is below

Hairdryer, failing that, use graffiti remover or "Sail Number remover" from P&B

I had heard of hair dryer before and was worried the heat might damage the sail ?
But will look into the P&B stuff sounds like a safe bet

Warm gently with a hairdryer - just enough to soften the adhesive - then a drop of white spirit on a rag is good to remove any residue.

when using any solvent, do do a quick check (even if it's been recommended) by wiping a small spot in a corner where it won't show.

I've always found they come off a film sail much more cleanly than off dacron.

Will carefully try the hairdryer method and will look into specialist products. But obviously my main concern was with damaging the sail, wasnt sure if heat from dryer would stretch or damage the sail :S

as a sail maker i'd just carefully support the sail with one hand and rip them off with the other, there shouldnt be any need to apply heat or solvents on a laminate sail.
