Usual advice / questions will follow - often most fun to sail same as others at your club, what sort of sailing do you want etc etc All perfectly valid. But I have   two vastly different suggestions -

For competitive class racing and a big choice of opens, with World / Europen and even Masters events - Laser Radial - as long as you don't mind hiking..

For trapezing, blasting and a scattering of good opens around the country - Vortex - especially if your club is big enough to allow the Asymmetric option..

Im around 65kg and i used to have a Vortex Asymmetric and
it was a great boat. Because it is so stable, even in heavy
winds it is still very manageable.

Currently i sail an RS600 and, while being at the other end
of the stable scale, is a very nice boat to sail. The
downside is that with the big fully battened main, keeping
control in bigger winds is a lot tougher. It is still good
fun though.

Of course it all depends on your skill level, what you want
from the boat, whether you want hiking or trapeze etc...

As per my suggestion in your previous thread try an RS600 -
you'll buy a competitive boat for 2,500 and S.a.l.t.y is
one of the smaller sailors that I mentioned.

The Vortex looks great - but really isn't very widespread
beyond Yorkshire now.

If your near Western Sailing Club in just over a weeks time
we have an open meeting - come along and say hi and ask any
questions you have.

I would say thats a bonus to buying a laser, you will get
some class racing! I currently have a 600 but am selling
it cause the other two at the club dont sail so have
nobody to play with so going to get something that there
are loads of at the club (200 or solo....) class racing
is better than handicap.
Rs600 + many others

Guys,
Charlie is part of the BLYM clan. Therefore it has to be able to sail
with ease on a lake that isn't that big and lots of trees around it,

Basically no trapeze. As I believe charlie will mainly sail there.

Charlie, as I said last night at the club, sell the feva, the you can just
hire out blym boats! It's not like we don't have a small range of boats,
let alone your'll save money not paying insurance, maintainance. And
all for £6 for a days sailing!! Think if the money you could spend on kit
or whatever

Why not try out the Vareo that Villian has (James) and give
that a go. Otherwise try a lightning, great in light winds
and can beat a Laser.
