Who's heard of the Rooster Project X single hander? Seems new singlehanders are in vogue at the moment,

Must be a powerful machine - look how much purchase is needed in the mainsheet!

Excellent; yet another opportunity to dilute class racing. Perhaps the new class will get all the support the 8.1 'class' (and I use the term advisedly) got/gets.

Oh no not another hiking single hander we have enough of those.

Come on Steve put your marketing skills to good use, do a deal with Joachim Harpprecht and import the Light Skiff, but you don't like trapeze boats........

There are more pics and debate on Steve's facebook page.  There are meant to be three different sail sizes to suit all weights.
the same, but different...

...and are lightweights going to be banned from using the big sail on light wind days? Haven't we been here before?

Why will no one give Laser the Byte c2 treatment? All those good old hulls out there with a rig made of telegraph poles and bedsheets. We dont need a new hiker just give people the opportunity to modernise an old one.

Steve wasn't too popular with Laser for releasing the 8.1. Would have thought that would have put anyone off trying something similar...

I'm sure i remember a photo somewhere on this forum of a laser with a square top main sailing at portland not so long ago.

The Laser class however, is a leviathan slower than most multinational corperations, I doubt it will ever happen.  Remember all the experiments with a carbon top section for the radial, then they managed to get it into the olympics without it so that got moth-balled.

They would be far better sorting the horse out so that you don't have to worry about hooking the mainsheet on a gybe.
