Talking about strong winds, its a pity nothing was posted about the
Welsh Sailing Games in Cardiff Bay last year. Me and a mate were
sailing a spice (a topper equivilant to the penultimate 14s) and the
wind was a force 7 gusting 8 on the final day, on the way upwind we
were twin wiring of the jib solely becauses we were playing so much
main! And downwind we proved that you can soak downwind with an
assymetric! - 230sft of kite is a bit of a handful in those conditions
I can tell you!  

Needless to say we capsized quite a few times and on the first day
(F6-7) we snapped the webbing holdin the kicker to the boom and had to
sail the rest of the weekend with 6mmrope wrapped around the boom about
7 times as the kicker strap.

Much fun was had although the following stomach upset from the water
(and exhaustion) put us out of work for a week following the event.  

By the way as a bit of a sell out, anyone reading this feel free to
travel to the Sailing Games next year at Cardiff Bay it is a great
event always with crazy wind, just dont swallow the water!
