We'd use it for a pico or laser so we can have 2 berths instead of 3 to save space in the boat park.

And you'd have to take the mast down...

the Bahia is plastic... why cant you leave it outside at the sailing club or something?
be a massive pain to get it on/off the stand to be honest |

I suppose it would depend on how it was supported...seemed like a good idea for short term storage solution (over winter) and also repair in tight spaces - but I can seen where Villain is coming from base/height ratio. Weight wise...there are stands for repair of cars that have a sort of catelever to lift the car onto its side. So a dinghy stand with a similar system should be possible...maybe I did warn you in previous posts that some of my posts would be a little mad Edited by ptcruiser |

We stored my daughter's Topper in our garage for a while, it was amazing how much room it took up! This sort of device seems a brilliant gadget for anyone in the same situation. I'm not sure about the long term effects of storing a boat on its side though.....would it distort the hull shape ?

Not trying to sound rude or anything .. but why on earth?
I keep all my boats the right way up, on launching trailers + road bases (combi trailers), with the mast up. Saves time rigging each day ( well, 20 mins for the Vareo, About 40 mins for the Fireball ) Only reasons I can see for storing something the size + weight of a Bahia on its side are ... Repairs! The base of the stand will have to be quite wide still, so that the boat wont fall over once its up .. Probably taking just as much room as storing it the right way up on a launching trailer. The weight of the boat on a few ( reasonably ) small bars will probably deform something made of plastic ( eg: feva/bahia) |

Me...and for the same reasons you would want to store any other dinghy on its side.

Its probably privatley made .. And I doubt they are going to make something Bahia-sized.
I can't think of anyone who would want to even TRY and lift a bahia up onto its side ... and can think of even fewer reasons for wanting to do so. For something that big, if a repair is needed, its probably best to totally flip it over .. eg: onto tyres. If its short term ( eg: 2 or 3 hours ) find some room, and just flip it onto it side, and rest something on the end of the mast ( still attached to the boat of course ) to keep it down. That is nice - any idea who makes it and whether they are planning to make one that will accept a Laser Bahia size boat?
