Sailing is a difficult sport to cover from a media point of view but we have made considerable progress with getting coverage for the 12 Foot Skiffs. If you really want to see decent coverage of your sport then I suggest you keep an eye on our progress or better still get involved.

Have a look at http://www.12footskiff.com

Sailing CAN be a fantastic spectator sport. It just needs the right people with the ability to put it across to landlubbers and sailors at the same time. YES it is possible.

Strangler

I take your point, the footage seems to have missed quite a lot of the fun and games that I saw sailing round the course.

Could it be part of a wider issue - sailing is not necessarily a spectator sport?  (Dons helmet and retires under the desk)

Welcome to the rant-line.

Did I miss something or was the sail.tv coverage on y&y appauling. Boats milling around before the start for 2 minutes seems to be the extent of it. I would be embarrased to put my name to it. Ain't sail.tv supposed to be experts at covering our sport?  Or is it just a preview. If so why bother it doesn't cover the product in glory. The was plenty of action.

I dispair at most tv coverage of our sport. The best productions are done by amateurs, the sailors themselves.

If you take another look at news page which featured the event, they have added the results for all 50 participants.

That Fireball really was going as fast as it looked - only trapeze boat in the top ten - and without one of its wires for the last lap. The gap to the B14's wasn't changing lap by lap either, so far as I could see.

Very impressive.

I see we now have the top ten results on the news section. Its a shame with it being a Y&Y sponsered event the full results are not there to see.

Not really the type of water that lends itself to high speed skiffs, or A-Class Catamarans - I was tootling downwind at a genteel pace and that thing was flying!  Must be very impressive when it's got enough space to really move.
