Are you sure you mean "engraved"? 35 PSI has always worked for me. Depends what you are towing and on what roads. Last month I towed two stacked Hurricanes on single axle so upped it to 40PSI. Still felt like I was towing a house. Better to have too much air than too little on an unbraked trailer. |

My tires have it moulded in to the side wall and it's higher than you'd imagine... 35 psi from memory (10inch wheels I think). Not meaning to highjack your thread Rick but anyone ever changed just a tire? Can you go to a quick-fit type place or do you have to replace the whole wheel? Edited by Matt Jackson |

You can get a replacement tyre - I think they come in at about £10 for the small wheels. But given you can get a replacement wheel (from a trailer shop not a chandlery!) for about £15 it really isn't worth it. If you've had a puncture at any speed, the wheel will probably get damaged anyway, and if the tyre needs replacing because it's old and perished, chances are the wheel is rusty as well! I've never actually worn the tread out on a boat trailer tyre - I reckon my trailer must have done nearly 30000 miles by now and there's load of tread left.

Much cheaper from Towsure (www.towsure.co.uk) than from a marine supplier. Mike |

My tyres say they take the maximum load of roughly 300kgs at 90psi.
Yes, 90. Remember that smaller tyres can go up to higher pressures. I don't pump mine up to that though, I run mine at around 60psi. It certainly makes towing easier and they haven't exploded yet. Take this advice at face value, I'm not a towing expert. I'm a lawyer, and that disclaimer means you can't sue me :) |
