We have a new mast thanks to excellent service from Noble (why is the Laser center in Northamptonshire? I recommend they relocate to Hastings). So we're of to Lancing for their Summer Regatta, our first L2 open....Found a B&B where the Landlady likes Sailors (thats me out then).

from last wednesday i had 5 days in a row sailing
wed, thur, fri, in a 600, sat back in the laser for racing, sun back in the 600 dossing around. yesterday i managed to do about 15 tacks without swimming but there were another 9ish with swimming lessons. i provided entertainment for the topper parents though.

Isis - Rolled on, and brushed flat ... 2nd coat going on tomorow with a LOT more care, so we dont end up with a few of the blotches and small raised bits we have currently.

3000's at the Medway Dinghy Regatta. Saturday had us on a 12 mile course in a F.4-5 in the morning followed by an 8.7 miler in a F3-4 in the afternoon - very good value for money! Sunday's final race had all fleets on the same course with lots of three-sail reaching in a F3-4 in brilliant sunshine. Brilliant sailing and a real 'regatta' feel. Why can't every weekend be like that? |

Got the first coat on the Fireball .... Looking Superb already!
International Toplac ( Yellow ) and its come up all glossy ... Looks great - But we have to put a 2nd coat on in a few days .... Still a week or two before we can sail again! Doesn't even need polishing .... ( But we're gonna anyway! ) |

Lord Birkett at Ullwater SC. Day 1 was quite strong wind but a "learning opportunity" which really means I spent a lot of time getting wet and trying not to sail behind something a lot larger and faster than me. This is quite difficult when it feels like 50% of the fleet is saiing 49ers and RS400's.
Day 2 was lighter with sunshine - loved it.

i was crewing on the fireball at poole, went very well, out of 14 boats we were 8th, and we were the first silver fleet boat (everyone ahead of us was in gold fleet at last years nats). the boat was falling apart underneath us a bit, the mainsheet/kiker block came apart again on the frst day so john couldnt adjust the kiker, it was tied together with cable ties. and on the way back in on the second day the cover fell apart on the mainsheet so the main couldnt be let out
, all good fun. also, that was the first test for my new magic marine pro racing harness and it is very comfortable Edited by mike ellis |

Considering it was a club boat and I haven't helmed one much for ages, not bad I agree! And we kept overtaking people
shame it didn't last. But good fun and nice and windy, with no rain for a change.
