I am currently developing a electronic sail training tool to help racing sailors develop their skills. any input from you guys would be appreciated.

The equiptment would take data from throughout the boat and display it on a small screen placed where the crew choose. the data would be stored and could be replayed on a computor program (like a video game) possibly including real images from on board cameras. similar to Kattack but in more detail with specific info from each boats settings. the sailor could analyse there performance and mistakes etc. easily and accurately.

would any of guys be interested in such a product, would you find it useful? what about coaching aplications? club regattas for entertainment/spectators etc

how much would you be prepared to pay!? our aim is to make it easy and cheap to use electronic training.

cheers

I would be interested in that sort of thing,

It would be very useful to see how the boat is performing with what you are doing.

£200 ish.

Possibly worth making a screenless version, try to avoid class rules that preclude electronic devices, but still allowing for downloading and later analysis...

point taken, screenless version is a very good idea. although it would be good to have a race timer?

we are hoping to charge as little as possible, 200quid is possible, depends on how many things you want to measure and log.

are there any particular features that would be a must have?

cheers

Does anyone know what are the rules on using electronics for data logging ?

I know many classes ban the use of electronic instruments,  but would this also cover a 'black box' hidden away where no benefit could be gained durig actual racing.

Omitting the screen (or just having a basic one) would certainly help keep the cost down
