We had a Topper Open at Lancing. The day was full of promises when, straight after the briefing, the sea mist rolled in and sat there for a while. I was on the committee boat and had no idea where we were in relation to the coast (also because the guy driving the boat thought it was funny to do wild figures-of-eight within our poor visibility). We anchored the boat and waited for the fog to lift...

... ate all the chocolate we had on board ...

... and finally saw the land again!

Ended up having 3 races and abandoning before race 4 due to lack of wind. But at least there was SOME sailing

It made me laugh when Coastguard put out a general call on vhf for all smaller vessels to stay in sight of land, close to shore.  What ****ing shore!!!

Visibility only improved about 400 metres out from Hayling.

Was OOD on Saturday and yotting on Sunday.

Lovely until the foggyness descended on the Solent.  Had to sail back from Seaview to Chichester.  By jove those ships have got loud horns. Thank god for radar and gps.  Good job I could remember the key code to the loos at the marina.

we got a sea breeze both days at hill head, shame it was evening racing so the wind kept dying off throughout the race. but pinky and his crew appeared in their 49er and that was very impressive. i came 2nd in the first race and absolutely nailed the start on the second race and lead the lasers all the way round. beaten on handicap by the 49er only

Both Saturday and Sunday were Sunblock City and a half decent sea breeze had built for Sunday racing. (enough for 1 trapeze out of 2).

RO set course 7 which seems to change year by year. I had taped last year's courses to my boat (mistake) while Swannie was sailing the correct course. As we both rounded the top mark, leading the fleet, me rounding to Starboard and him to Port we both shouted, "You're sailing the wrong course!" at each other before heading off to the next (different) marks. Most boats followed me ( I am the Sailing Sec and should know the courses). Eventually Swannie buckled as well so we all sailed the wrong course and got DNF'd to a man!

On the plus side, I managed to squeeze into my shorty, thus winning a bet with my wife.
