haha, Yes!!

Saturday: Finally found my way to Alton Water, met up with a few people and went out for a blast.

The Xenons / Omegas report from the racing that day said Force 7 ... and I must agree .. It was pretty quick!

Sunday: Training day, went out and did some windward / leward courses, and came in for lunch. Sailing in, a nice puff hits, boat heels a bit, I hike, hear a BANG and the boat slows right down ...

Yes, I broke the boom. Tore the goosneck fitting clean out of the boom, and it took a few chunks of metal with it!

Good old LDC have a boom heading my way now ... I had to pay for it, but its coming!!

Finally managed some decent boat time this weekend. Wind was only so so though but there were some nice puffs that helped me down the reaches. Felt like the boat was awful upwind but like lightning offwind so probably not quite enough rake.

Roll on this coming Sunday the gf has said I can sail....again :-) lots of practice before the nats :-).

on saturday there were 2 races, both in the evening so the wind was dropping off. didnt do too well in either of them but it was great fun. Sunday we had a morning race and for some reason i couldnt go upwind without slamming into the waves stopping dead then rounding up into the wind with a stalled rudder hiking as hard as i could and then having the boat come on top of me. but the downwind was fun. no reach though so i lost. couldn't work out what i was doing wrong which really peeved me off. and at rainbow bar beakon which is a spiky post sticking out of the sea and also happened to be our leeward mark i capsized infront of a J80 coming upwind at full pelt and pointing straight at me, that had the biggest brown factor of the day. (luckily he pinched around my bow, very nice people).

600 732, will call it Sticks and Stones when i get round to it.

Yeah was out on the Stavy on friday ant that was pretty good as we managed to miss the rain but not so much luck for sat n sun.

Sat the racing was canceled at Hayling for the J105's and got two races on the sun... before it was canceled and the lighting came in. But still managed to blow the kite and break part of the jib n haliard.  V nearly nosed dived.!!

Hey Merlin boy.

I spoke to you on Sunday morning about getting my 14 out (grey old 14) for the 2nd race, but had a bit of a shocker in the first race (collision in 300) so went home just before the rain came. I had hoped to talk a bit more after sailing to see whether you guys are going to be sailing at Draycote again?

Chris

I was out on Sunday in a Daring, in the torrential rain and f5-6 gusting up to 35 knots, we were leading the fleet but it was pissing so hard we couldn't see the marks and ended up sailing almost to the end of the island before realising we and the rest of the fleet following us had missed the marks.

When we did eventually find them we were told that racing was cancelled and to head back to Cowes, only problem was we couldn't see the Isle of Wight, and with no GPS it took a bit of dead reckoning to find our way back cos we couldn't see anything!

Blowing like stink on Sunday started at 4-5 building to F6 and more than a little lumpy, p***ing down with rain. Only three boats went out for the Vice Commodore's Trophy, a Vareo, Byte CII and a Graduate. The Graduate won. First time in living memory a Graduate has won anything at Pevensey Bay.....My wife and I in the safety boat. Quite exciting really.

I was out in an RS200 earlier today ... it was, to put it bluntly, AWSOME.

Originally took a Radial out, but then swapped with the helm of the 2k ...

At a guess we probably hit about 15 knts downwind in 30 knt gusts .. All while ( just ) hanging onto control!!!

I am buying myself a GPS / Velocitek in the next few weeks ... If only I had one today!!
