If your pond club became dominated by a number of organisational maniacs that feel the need to fill the calendar with as many events as possible and became oblivious to any contrary views - what would you do?

Welcome the opportunity to fill the coffers of the club, and give thanks that there were a group of bods  that were happy to take the initative and organise these things

What are the club coffers for? Should it not be for the benefit of the members? The club I currently belong to (before I run out of patience and shift my money) probably hosts more open meetings than any club in the region. On several w/e's a year it hosts simultaneous open meetings - run simultaneously with club racing - all on a relatively small pond. If your club water is constantly dominated by this policy, if as a result free-sailing is restricted, or if the courses laid for the remaining club sailing are so constricted as to be useless on a regular basis, how would you react...........?

but that depends on how big your water is if like ours it's only small and you have to sacrifice club racing for these events it's becomes a bit of a sore point we used to have 3 opens and a couple of joint club regattas but now i think we only have the2 opens ( lasers and GP14) but's mainly due to the classes sailed at the club this was no problem cause one class fleet would do the duties for  one of the other opens but if we started having loads of opens we would seriously reduce club raing as the lake is not big enough.

I think it is contentious issues like this that result in there being a sailing club every few miles along the south coast.

To put a bit of detail in this - I'm talking about 16 Open Meetings between mid-April and mid-October, covering 13 different classes, with 4 x 2 day events and 1 x 3 day event included in those. The lake has about 200 acres of useable space and also a school trying to operate with all this as well!
