Agreed, i don't see the fastest boat being relevent to the trials, would just be good to know from a personal interest

For a little bit of no-breeze two-boat action on Monday.

Subtle Knife = Will and Lucy Lee

Badgers Nadgers = Rebecca MARRIOTT (GBR) and Rachel LARMAN (GBR)

http://www.sailingsource.com/cherub/appletGPSAR/hyeres-20070 416e.html

AFAIK only the two Cherub Daemons had GPSs on board. These were kindly provided by the Cherub Class' Nationals Sponsor, Velocitek. ( www.velocitekspeed.com )

I don't think the evaluation committee as a whole were interested in measuring performance too accurately, because if they were they would have accepted the offer from Velocitek to put GPSs on all the boats!

(The purpose of the equipment trial was to find out if elite female sailors want a high performance boat, and to establish if there is suitable equipment out there. No mention of comparing the boats: The evaluators were asked at the briefing not to do this, but to report on what they found in each boat. They also did not discuss their preferences with any of the boat teams, as they had been asked not to.)

Best wishes,

Will

Some people just don't know when to admit defeat do they?!

The phrase self-denial comes to mind!

And is it not possible that the photo was taken BEFORE the 2005 announcement? Or can't you remember that far back in time?

It's true Izzy... French flag on one side of the sail, British on the other!

Hyeres as a sailing venue was incredible though, Weymouth has some way to go until it is on a par. All you would have to do is block off the harbour wall, import some of that glorious blue med water and heat it nicely... oh and then there is the importing of the golden sand.... How many years we got left to sort it?!

If the RS800 is considered a little tame but still manages to be the fastest boat in plus 10 knots and the I14 is gloriously overpowered and loved by all, perhaps RS should consider putting the I14 rig on the 800 hull. Now that would be a boat
