Hoping to have a blast tomorrow, the wind looks pretty handy. Might give the 8.1 a rest though and just sail the standard boat cos I am feeling lazy!

I used a standard rig today (in an F5) - not racing, just out for a blast. I  don't think that the 8.1 would have been my weapon of choice in those conditions.......I had enough problems hanging onto the standard rig !

club weather station readouts looked "fun". Helm doesn't want us to damage the boat the week before the nationals. Pub lunch and an airshow to replace that then.

sounds like a plan... had a similar view to Saturday's racing at the 300
open this weekend- ten minutes out there with 36 knot squals was
enough for me think that the 200 quid just spent to get my boat airtight
was soon to be a complete waste of money- I think there were 7 or 8
finshers out of 23 in the first race.

Sunday was just a horrible day- not quite as gusty, but properly minging
rain. I didn't envy the race officers jobs of trying to set courses with all
that shifting about going on; either way I got cold enough and bored
enough hanging around for an hour before the gun so I went in and took
the new bike out for ride instead.

On a positive note, I got some good tips from the circuit guys, I got
heinously peeved two nights in a row (haven't been able to do that for a
while) and met 'Pink Phil'- nice bloke, even if he did call me 'John' all
weekend.

Shame I didn't get much sailing in as I'm off the water now for four weeks
(Laser Eye Surgery this friday ) but hey, there's always next year when
it shall be Merlinboy buying the full fat coke and Ginsters Steak slice.

I noticed you bottled it and ran home, without my steak slice and can of full fat coke!!!

James, saturdays racing was good, sunday the wind was shifty but a lot more manageable...

Great weekend, hope everyone enjoyed it as much as me!

So, the coming weekend then. Off to Plymouth for the B14 nationals. Should be a fantastic weekend, though the favourites are in doubt at the moment- Seavolution has a stand in crew thanks to a severed tendon (ouch!) and Team Gill's helm has two new bundles of joy.

How may other 2009 national champions will have been decided come next week/ I know the N12s are at Thorpe bay, what else? Have there been any nationals proper to this weekend?
