I used a standard rig today (in an F5) - not racing, just out for a blast. I  don't think that the 8.1 would have been my weapon of choice in those conditions.......I had enough problems hanging onto the standard rig !

Visiting rellies this weekend in Essex but escaped to Brightlingsea for the 1st time in years this afternoon with the dog for a stroll along the prom. Full on onshore F6 and no dinghies out.

Still one of my favourite places on earth and the new marina development doesn't look to have gentrified the place too much - thank goodness. Dinghy park looked healthy. Might sneak out again tomorrow to watch the boats go out.....

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

I thought the Oppie circus were off somewhere, saw two ribs yesterday on the M25, one towed my an RYA Volvo, the other from Burghfied with an Oppi on top.

As for me, I am considering taking the 700 out tomorrow, forcast is for wind!

EDIT - Changed my mind, will either be a Pico or Laser, depends whats available when I get there!

It always makes me wonder- how pushy/overbearing were the parents of Ben Ainslie etc?

I saw six parents rigging one boat yesterday.  The kids were playing on the grass....

Might be at GW on sunday of the forecast looks sensible.  I think I'll get there early.  Move all the boats that have been dumped in front of mine.  Get rigged, pack my lunch in the tramp bag, take the waterproof camera and go out for the say.  Might borrow the Oppie course for a bit of early training and maybe go see them for a bit.

Funny thing there are "Oppie parents" in every sport.  Was at a Ski race a few weeks ago, and there are "oppie parents" there too!!!

Wanna learn to Ski - PM me..

Dare I say "Any excuse" ....  (Please don't hit me .. )

Gonna admit to not sailing myself though .. Finishing off the re-roping I started a few weeks back, and considering a few pimps + bimbles, and getting marks from carbon tiller extension off my side decks!!

Its the Rickmansworth Canal Festival as well this weekend, pop down to the Aquadrome, Rickmansworth, have a wander around! BLYM have a stand, I'm not sure if I have a slot on it or not but the club is just a short walk down the main path .. Come down say Hi!!

The Optimist travelling circus has already started to arrive at Grafham for the Inlands, so after a good sail there today (Hi Jimbob!) the Contender and I are off to Hunts where I will demonstrate my inability to trapeze in the nasty shifty wind they get there.
