I was actually joking about Olympic selection, but having thought about posting this on 'Spy photos' or 'Videos' I wondered what reactions would be if I put it here. The predictable negative responses to something about an RS 500. are reminiscent of the original RS500 thread so no suprises there -- very deja vu.

Seriously, I don't know who the sailors are or why they have two wires rigged, but they look like that could be their first ever twin wire experience . They also might look a little more powered up if the jib was sheeted in.

RE speed, how can you tell from that short clip? And in any case all out speed isn't everything - at least not for everyone.  It would definately be faster with two 65kg olympic standard ladies rather than two biggish blokes!

As I said I don't know who the sailors are or if they have anything to do with RS - I doubt it. They're probably just a couple of guys having a lark around and seeing if it works. Something many on here would normally think was ok.

Hector

I wasn't having a dig at the RS 500 (though having reread my previous post I realise it may have been construed that way), just making a general comment.

I agree with you in that there's nothing wrong with larking around, as we all sail to have fun, don't we?

No 5 - no worries.

They've posted another clip - does look a bit underpowered for the two sailing it - although it doesn't look all that breezy..

As where they are sailing is St Mawes in Cornwall I think I can pressume it is the couple of lighweight sailors that had previously posted on here asking of advice about a twin string boat to sail in those waters. They were looking at a Spice if I remember. It looks like they have hedged thier bets and gone for a boat they can sail in either mode and will be able to sell on again. Probably not a bad choice if that's what you want to do, but not a contender for ISAF Womens Olympic's boat or an expansion of the RS500 maket from RS.

No argument from me. Just thought it was an 'interesting' idea.

Thanks for info about location.

Its not entered into the trials as there is a lot more development left to be
done on the boat, it's just had a new t foil rudder and there is a list of things
to play with still!
I'm hopefully having a go over the weekend, finally... Still haven't seen it
rigged in the flesh and I made it!
