There is nothing like lauching your boat and sailing out to the start still drunk!, the hangover usually lasts the first beat and you're fine after that. (only problem with that is team racing, tying to judge two boatlength circle whan you are seeing double is an interesting challenge!)

Cures any hangover I've ever had. Oh and as for troublesome helms, if you're on the beat, then remember who's in control of the spini pole... 
(unless you're in one of these new-fangled aesymetric things!!).
