well in the scorps the ideal weight range varies quite alot its because we have a raking rig which allows the sailors to depower also it allows to point higher. my helm and i weigh about 23 stone but i was doing an open at elton sailing club and two lads of about 18 stone absolutly kicked ass.

A lovely boat the Scorp.  I've owned 2.  625 which I sold to Mike Lennon - one of the best to windward, but hopeless off-the-wind, and 1695 a Stewart boat beautifully down to weight and fast off-the-wind but not so good upwind due to a mast which as too flexible for the crew weight.  I was on the committee for a year or so.

its kinda funny at the nationals there was this 1700 number scorp it was called melting pot. anyway it was kicking ass up wind but down wind because of the change in hullshape it suffered. my scorp number is 1971 its four years old. scorp number 2000 is up for sale but it may be out of your funds however scorp nuber 1964 i think is up for sale around £4500 mark if i remember correctly. fast boat nearly won this years nationals its just been prepainted by paintcraf aswel. top boat.

Scorps (PY 1056) aren't as fast as Fireballs (PY 982), similar to a RS200 (PY 1059) but they are very good in a seaway and they look the business.
