Hi John

The keels were made by different manufacturers and have a different armature and keel bolt arrangement. The later ones have the same ( or similar ) layout to the 920 keels. Both keels used the same pattern so look identical externally.

hi,

just wondering if anyone had a polar chart for the projection 762. even better would be a tuning guide and polar plot. as regards general mast set up i believe nigel theadom reckons raked with minimal prebend. this is a good starting point i guess...

cheers

Great fun boat with some good results obtainable in most weathers. I have had GBR7621R Miss Piggy @ Falmouth with 2006 Axis Kevlar Sails. Am now joining someone with a different boat and sadly she is for sale.

Got my IRc for 2007 back this weekend. Now 0.970, this is with a weight of 1300kg, 140% Genoa and 44.4 sq m kite.

I think I need to get her weighed correctly, as it seems that the J80's have gone down to 0.967

Hi guys,

I am still fitting out Proper Job and I am about to tackle removing/replacing the windows which are both leaking badly.  The outer caulking which is black, is very chalky and abrades easily when rubbed with a finger... it is likely to mark anything that touches it so I guess it must be removed and replaced. There is unsightly silicone spodges all around the inside and I suppose this will be a real pain to remove.

Has anyone tackled this job before and got any tips tricks and recommendations as to how I should go about this?.......What sealants shoulld I use for mounting and caulking the outside?

I am part way through changing the chain plates (old ones are out and new ones waiting to go in......how do you seal the deck when using the new pattern plates? do you need to use a SS cover plate siliconed in place?

Never enough time for sailing

I bit the bullet and made my own stowage chart - it's all getting a bit hectic
as first race is next sunday but Upstart is nearly ready to go. Have attached
the chart if it's any use to other projection owners - I think you wanted one

Just noticed there are 3 projections in the classified section. Is everybody selling up?

It's a bit alarming when you realise that it is 10% of the fleet!

However I think these are the boats that had been previously described as 'up for sale', I guess they've been waiting till nearer the new season to advertise.

Our boat (7636) went in last Monday. So far I'm really impressed. We're waiting for the opportunity to sail with a full crew in a bit more of a blow!

We had Upstart out in a blow for the first time the other week and it was AMAZING! Really, really good.

I was amazed how well behaved the boat was having heard stories about them being twitchy and a bit nose happy downwind in a big sea. We didn't have wind instruments but other boats out there said the wind was pegged about 28-30kts with gusts well into the 30s. It wasn't too bad up wind either, we were able to keep some bigger boats astern and it was electric off wind. Went straight past an X332 on the run and managed to hit 13.5kts twice whilst reaching on white sails alone.

There were a lot of grins on our faces when we got back to the marina.
