Nice boats, Folkboats - you could get yourself a bargain. Then cruise up to the Baltic!

Well i hadn't really heard of them before, I'm quite new to sailing and was thinking of buying a nice little classic like this and then learning from scratch, going and doing RYA courses etc

Considering it but question has to be asked on whether it would be a good first boat or not... as much as i like the look of it, it might not be practical enough for a beginner..

Paul, if you do happen to go and see it I would be interested to know what you think

As a design, the folkboat is ideal for a beginner (to yachting at least - some dinghy experience would be good). I didn't look closely at this particular ad - if wooden, only buy her if you also enjoy woodwork and painting too, because your life will be taken over by the boat!

Y+Y did a test on the Folkboat (though they looked at a Glass one): classic well mannered design, though a bit wet to sail as they have low freeboard, but go anywhere, no vices, and an active class assoc http://www.folkboats.com/
