From the 14 forum:

The
Carbonology GT60 is a mini Bieker 5 I14 (scaled to 85.7%)

and the 14:

This is the brainchild of Louise Hickey and Katie Nurton, supported by the GBR fleet as discussed and agreed at the AGM at Hayling Island late last year.

This will be a restricted rule Int-14 to meet ISAF's one design criteria within the scope of the existing class. Therefore one of the "Olympic 14's" would be able to race against the remainder of the fleet, albeit with limitations in terms of design/technological advances. The class would have separate administration to eliminate the chance of conflict between the needs of existing owners and those seeking Olympic competition.

The hull will be a Bieker 5 (either as standard or a modified version) with a common plug (to include foils) and controls over build and materials from a licenced builder. There will be an approved mast and 2 approved sail plans from a licenced sail maker.

The foils and sail plan would be designed for an optimal crew weight to meet ISAF's criteria and to assist the rig will be a full raking rig. The other reason for this being to add a further technical dimension to the skills required by Olympic aspirants.

The proposal includes the facility for rule revision at the beginning of each Olympic cycle with amendments being introduced only after the agreement of ISAF. This will not affect the ability of the class to move forwards at its own pace. Over time therefore there is the potential for the 2 sides to the class to diverge in terms of development and performance.

Therefore there will be no impact on value of current boats and these will not be made redundant by the restricted element of the class. If anything, having a licenced builder should help owners keep the costs of new boats down - something that we all should welcome!

As for the choice of boat going to the trials, this will be Katie Nurton's B5 as used in POW and the LA Worlds last year.

i think that the 14 is nice but the weight issue may be a prob.

i think that the 29er will get it cause of the youth selection and the isaf.  shame tho.  i was chatting to somone on the 9er stand and they said that the xx isnt that good.  and that a standard 29er can beat it.  also he said that she was very underpowered, and didnt behave well

I heard almost the opposite so I guess it depends who you talk to. I suppose that the trials are meant to find out the truth on these sort of issues.

The HL Cherub did look interesting - one of the few boats I went to look at more than once. I reckon that regardless of the results of the trials, it could attract a number of ex 29er squaddies and others who want something more exciting and challenging to have fun in.With the excellent price you've got to be guaranteed more 'bangs per buck' than most boats out there.

Well done Hartleys.

nah blood sports rule.......

12 foot skiff....big rigs only.....weymouth

racing restricted to 20 knots+ from the s west only...!!

It would get more telly viewers than all the rest of the sailing put together..!

PS - I hope that someone builds one of these 12 footer skiffs and calls it "Hospital Pass" - just seems right somehow...!

Have u eva seen a film called "Awesome Ozzy Skiffs"? It shows you loads of 18 foot skiffs pitchpolling, capsizing and generally getting into trouble. I would recoment it to any1.
