Hmm I thought it was ugly when I first saw it but in those test pictures it
improves, so then why is it seeing that, does anyone have any doubt
about my Frankenblaze idea?

That thing is as flawed as everything else born on the lakes of Europe, not
to mention the crap rig (just check out the bend on the boom), even a
windsurfer would horse that into the skip, how exactly are they intending
to power and depower that when the booms already bent half double in
lightish wind from merely sheeting it in?

I hate the sail it looks awful and those solid racks must carry a weight
penalty, can't see it fairing well on the South Coast it'll be ok as a
Whitstable & Inland girlie boat I guess.

If you can develop the boat so that it planes upwind, IMHO it would certainly make it a more interesting proposition!

Having moved into an upwind planing dinghy last season, it was a bit of a revelation having the additional tactical options that open up to you by having an upwind VMG arc so much wider than a displacement only hull.

Did not go to the show so did'nt see it.  "Interesting" looks, looks something like the love child of a solo and a Laser EPS...boom looks long so might be interesting to gybe in big breeze?  Finish looks superb in the shots, that board is pure porn!

Agreed, superb photos!

booms looks low upwind, but because of the unstaied mast,( guess my
written english is pretty poor,) comes up once you release the mainsheet,
therefore even myself at 120kg this last sommer had no problem
manouvering, same for cb position boat feels balanced because once you
sheet in the centre of effort of the sail plan comes back. in the breeze
top of main blades away so depowers really well and no problem sailing in
strong winds with the big sail. in palma we will have to decide if we want
to be easily planing upwid, wide racks required, or we do a higher angle
upwind but keep the boat easier and more confortable to sail in light
winds because we will have something to sit on. downwind performance
no problem already 16.8 knots jps in 20 knots true as well as speed is
good in the light up and downwind. upwind can do 8 knots but needs
wide wings or 5.5 and sails really high.tacks really well and accelerates
superbly due to sail area and light weight, anyone that wants to come to
palma de mallorca to test and help with the last finetunes is invited we
will have 4 boats at arenal yacht club from 15 of march to 10 of april,
regattas for olympic classe though from 4 to 10.of april....regarding wing
design the problem is that hight from double bottonm cannot be changed
because of ergonomics hyking as well as general shape and in order to
pack them away easy they cannot be any bigger.....the fun sailing it is
fenomenal, so try sailing it ..and than make your mind up..all the best

Is there any reason why the sail doesn't go to the top of the mast? Is it just a development mast / sail ? I noticed it at the show too.

So Sten, how does the D-one handle then?

It actually looks better on the water than I imagined, although the wings just look shocking. If it had blaze style wings I think it would look a lot neater.

The traveller arrangement looks good and I'm guessing gives plenty of control, and the hull shape looks pretty forgiving with a very deep bow.

So when is the Y&Y comparative review of D-One vs Vareo?
