Some shots I took at the show of the Devoti one for those that couldn't make it, Sunday looked like a good day for going sailing instead.

the 5 preproduction boats are on there way to Palma now for further testing and development, and should be finalised by end of May

Compared to the Vareo, that mast looks a long way forward, with the plate still in the middle of the boat.

I wonder how well balanced it is with the kite up?

The main is very square, with the leech is almost vertical, and so the board will be further back to compensate.  The pole is not as long as it looks in those shots (lens foreshortening I guess) I would be very worried and supprised if Luca had got that one wrong!!

I think it may actually be quicker to get your feet out from the longways strap...

What happens is that you hook a foot or feet under the strap, and there's inevitably enough stretch and slack in the webbing that it goes diagonally across the top of your foot. If you point your toes with weight off the strap then it straightens and just flicks off your foot.

It is a little bit slower to get your feet in the strap compared to a toe strap boat where you just catch them automatically coming out of the tack, but as you've already got 90% of your righting moment sitting on the end of the plank then its not a big deal if it takes you a second longer to hook your toes in the strap and wriggle your ass off the end of the plank.

I guess the major difference between the seats I've used and the IC one is the distance from the edge of the boat. I look forward to having a go one day at longitudinal toestraps!

Is it me or do the "racks" have a supporting arms under them that runs down the outside of the hull? ( 2rd picture ) & wouldn`t these cause rather a lot of drag?

I had a look and those appear to be reinforcing bars underneath the wing, It must be a trick of the light or the foreshortening. If you look at the head on shot you can see them running underneath the wing.

A fine pic of sitting out over the end of the plank, using the toestraps ( well one anyway)
