TT - kicker on 300 downwind is about preventing the mast bending forwards and creating a down-force to push the bow in.  It should make little differnce to rolling - key for that is sailing either by the lee, or firmly on a v broad reach but not in the transitional runny bit.

It can pay to ease kicker for the gybe - just to soften the arrival of the main and the powering up on the new tack.

When it is really really windy you can try my chicken gybe:  go by the lee, keep on bearing away until you are on such a high course that the sail comes of its own accord.  You will usually be high enough at this pint that the sail is largly depowered, but you will have enough way and therefore stability to sheet in and bear away again.  Not the quickest but safer and quicker than a tack round or a swim.

I went to the show really excited about the D-One, what a disappointment.

Good boats look the part, but this thing looks a dog, what a shame, a great opportunity completely blown.

I was told that I was the only person not to like it, but everyone I spoke to was negative too.

What do the forum think?

They said about £10k. I understand that it is costing £8.5k to build so not a lot of room to manoeuvre.

Further to my earlier criticism, can I repeat that I am disappointed, I wanted it to be great. A huge amount of thought has obviously gone into it but it just looks horrible. They were showing a video of it on the stand that did it no favours either.
