I thankyou Steve..... I drive a sports car sitting down, I ride a motorcycle sitting down, and I've got into the habit.  Don't mind doing a bit of leaning....good for the six pack (well party four)

couldn't agree more Pierre, us Fat Dads , need to stick together, Fortunately the old boats to which you refer are still being built in modern materials and they are still fun, and still competitive, and they do as you say allow you remain seated at comfortable whilst enjoying the exhilaration.

Personally the thought of standing up for 90% of the time in the boat would not seem like fun to me.

I think we're talking originally built here aren't we, so I guess age of the hull is the issue.

Think you'll find that most of us fat dads  favour the older boats for a number of reasons, notably because as we have got older and more handsome, weight seems to follow, and that tends to mean something that can carry a broad weight range , which would appear to favour some of the older classes...... or maybe I'm a cheap so and so, and found I could get a big fast older boat for very little money that didn't need chimp like activities to keep it upright and going....

Perhaps though how old is your boat is not quite accurate. My hull is about 5 years old, but the mast, sails, foils etc are all less than 6 months old. Maybe this is splitting hairs? But my boat wouldn't be quite so good if the rest of the components were the same age as the hull.... ..

Does anybody else have any comments?

Dr C. asked for a poll asking how old your boat is. Here is your place to put your boats age and if you want - talk about it!
