But also generally if you change boat you keep the same harness so you need a harness that will be good for the majority of boats

Yeah but nappies have only caught on recently so for the majority of boats they always have been fine and will continue to be so. There is obviously a move to nappies in skiff type boats but as we've discussed before it's hard to define a skiff .

Are you quite sure about that? I've used nothing else for the last thirty five years...

One point nobody's mentioned:

I've found that a harness which seemed perfectly good turned into a hospitalisation job when I changed my swimming trunks to a different style, even tho' I was wearing a shorty on top of them in both instances.

Your town may not have a ballroom, but make sure your trunks have plenty

But you're not the average sailor are you Jim? I mean they've only caught on in  the mainstream recently.

Personally I'd replace trunks (don't wear any) with harness in that statement - which is why I'm not a fan of nappies. The big man upstairs intended them to be like a Contender sailor (dangle freely) and that's the way I like it.

Ok this thread is really starting to hit gutter level now!!

I would say comfort in a nappy harness is all down to trunk settings and carefull arrangement of chandlery in the changing room prior to putting on wetsuit!!

(PS Either that or your average Contender sailor has the kind of tackle you'd expect to see swinging around on a grand national winner!)

(PPS gratuitously nicked from Blackadder)

(PPPS Did I mention I used to sail a Contender????)

I don't wear trunks under my wetsuit either (ever since a rather unpleasant incident that meant I had to walk like a cowboy for a couple of days - 'nuff said) but I do wear an adjustable nappy harness. As Iain says, a bit of careful arrangement is required in the changing room.

I also sail a Contender.
