Low weight? 5 Low price? 3 Easy maintainence? 5 Direct feeling? (= no play between tiller and stock nor between stock and blade) 5!!! Uphaul function? 1 Downhaul function? 4 Lock-down function? 3 Auto-release function? (when hitting ground) 4 if a centreboard boat, 1 in a daggerboard boat. Attractive looks? 1 I consider myself as representing Dingy racing? 5 Dinghy recreational sailing? Catamaran racing? Catamaran recreational? Any further comments? |

My reqs fairly similar:

The Winder stock on my Fireball was superb, but did need a an auto-release cleat to stop the downhaul rope pulling out of the blade during the inevitable hard grounding (river sailing). The carbon version would, I suppose, have been even lighter...mmmm!
As to looks, if things function well we generally end up thinking that's how things should look, (e.g. plumb bows).
Not sure about uphauls. I've wanted one for weed clearance, for sure, but suspect that if the blade-stock fit is sufficiently tight for direct feel, then the uphaul wouldn't overcome it, i.e. work, anyway.

Often cracking appearing, or a weakness developing. |

Hi! I am doing some market research on dingy and catamaran rudderstocks as part of a university paper. Any feedback on this would be a great help for me. It will only take a few minutes to answer the questions below. Your participation may even result in some better rudder products in the future. Thanks a lot! What do you want out of a rudder stock? Mark with 1-5 where "5" is "very important" and "1" is "not at all important". Also state what diciplin you are in Dingy racing - Dinghy recreational - Catamaran racing - Catamaran recreational. Ok, here we go: Low weight? Low price? Easy maintainence? Direct feeling? (= no play between tiller and stock nor between stock and blade) Uphaul function? Downhaul function? Lock-down function? Auto-release function? (when hitting ground) Attractive looks? I consider myself as representing Dingy racing? Dinghy recreational sailing? Catamaran racing? Catamaran recreational? Any further comments? Thanks a lot for your time!! Rick Andersen rudderstock@hotmail.com |
