ISAF Evaluation Event 2007

An open invitation to classes for consideration as the
Women’s High Performance Dinghy for possible inclusion at
the 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition

Fundamental Criteria

A. The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) invites submissions of boats for consideration and evaluation trials to be held in Hyeres, France 16-19 April 2007.

The category of boats  invited is a High Performance Dinghy for two female sailors.

It is anticipated that alternative boats to the current Olympic equipment will emerge for possible selection for the 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition. A number of existing International Classes are clearly eligible for consideration. In addition the ISAF Council policy is that classes need not have International Status at the time of selection of equipment in November 2008.

B. In order to update the ISAF Council of details and characteristics of newer types of boat which may be considered for selection, an evaluation team has been appointed. ISAF has decided that the boats to be evaluated shall conform to the following fundamental criteria:

                                                 · There must be one common plug for all tooling

· Unsinkable if holed or swamped , with approximately level positive flotation, with some portion of the freeboard, deck coamings or gunwale, including those of the bow or stern above water.

Cost and Transport        &nb sp;   · Targeting a price of 14,500 Euros ready to sail. 

·  Relatively easy and cheap to transport.  The manufacturer should state with certainty, howmany boats, with their spars, will fit in a standard full-size (12m/40ft) shipping container. the manufacturer should also discuss trailering arrangements and if multiple boats can be accommodated on a single trailer.
