They are actually quite shockingly rigged. RS cut so many corners when building it!

I'd say the Feva wasn't the best choice of the two here. The Feva would be great if you needed the flexibility of taking a small crew or child out sailing aswell, but there are better choices if your regular useage was adult singlehanded sailing. From the RS range, a Vareo would probably fit better, and you can still take a friend if there opportunity arises. A used boat is in the same price range as a used Feva, so similar spend. Based on your original choice, a used Laser is always a sound way of getting back into the sport, are readily available and easy to sell on after. Of course the Feva could still do the job, and with all three sails would allow you to ease yourself back into racing dependent on the conditions.

Is it possible you deserved it? In any customer service organisation its essential for staff morale to let staff occasionally have a go at customers that really deserve it... There are cases where there's no worries about them telling the friends they haven't got.

Dart_Fart you're like an elephant who doesn't forget!

You didn't 'complain to RS', you said you didn't like the Feva very graphically on a public forum and I merely asked you why to see if we could help. When you replied and told me you had little experience and had only sailed one once, I merely tried to help you understand the implications of what you were doing - that someone who wants to spend their hard earned cash on a boat to use in their personal time with their family, deserves useful advice.  There was no 'having a go'..

The multi award winning RS design team would be delighted to hear your detailed report of areas that you feel could be improved. Please PM or email me a list and we can dicuss them off forum and then report back to everyone on the progress we've made. As you were 'shocked' by the rigging experience I've no doubt there'll be plenty for us to get our teeth into. Perhaps I could send you a ticket to the boat show and we could talk over the Feva on the stand.

In the meantime, best of luck with your driving test, I read elsewhere that this is imminent?

So if I complain about the Feva as well, will I get a free ticket to the boat show??

Shame I have never had any experience of one.

How about if I stir it up a bit and say that the Laser is the most horrible boat ever made IMHO? Hard work for little reward, and horribly uncomfy, I gave up sailing for two years after I had one! (Mind you, I was too light and it was before the small rigs, new controls etc, and the build quality of some of the bits was pretty suspect back in the 70's!)

Stands back and waits for reaction.....
