yeah i understand about the air expansion thing but how does the boat not sink if there's a hole in it?  I realise im proably being very stupid here but i just don't get where this hole goes.

it isnt big enough to let enough water in to sink, the hole is only 2mm! and they are usually in a place the water doesnt get to very often

it just lets air go in and out and is generally in a place where it will only get splashed not submerged
