5pm not 5am.......some people!

We did alright on the social front, there was a big group of us staying at the travelodge in Staines so we went out and made out own entertainment in the various pubs and bars.

I learned on on really bad lake and have the following advice:

Avoid sailing into a 'hole' of no wind at all costs! This is vital.

Another VERY important point: small lakes mean setting insanly complex courses to make races last long enough. Carefully note the course and figure it out from the shore. The quickest way to lose is to screw up the course (where is mark no 5! lol) - this is so easily done on a strange lake and seen it happen many times.

Don't take any big risks, if they don't pay off in lake sailing you are really really screwed.

Lakes often have really useful wind bends. Find them and use them.

Be prepared for a race to go from F4 - 2 and back again with 90+ wind shifts. Adjust your rig accordingly when the changes happen.

Follow the locals  and don't count on just hiking harder tahn everyone else to win!

At least QM had some water in it at the SGP, Datchet looked kind of empty again from the Heathrow flightpath on Wed.

I think if i lived in London Id be glad that Datchet and QM existed. As it is Im glad I live 5 mins walk from a club that sails on the salt stuff
