i know im late here but hey,

i have a nokia 30something and its lasted for a years . it used to be my dads, he dropped a lot and it got trampled on the tube and hit it with a hammer once. then my sister inherritted it. then i got it. it has been left in my boardies pocket during a several swims, get home, take the case off, leave it on a radiator, its fine. its been thrown out my coat and run over by my bike several times, its been run over by a moped once, it is still working, these things are indistuctible

600 732, will call it Sticks and Stones when i get round to it.

i think this might be the badger!! the 5140, my boss has it and seems to still be living after being dropped in sand lots, dont think it is 100% water proof but anyway who wants to ring the mrs when you are sailing? or worse her ring you!

I had the nokia 5-- brick phone. It survived about 18 months, but in those 18 months, it was

- lived in sailing bag and surfboard bag-with wet stuff
- Run over
- Dropped x1000000
- Chucked in pints. Something on the line of 'hey, this the waterproof phone' next thing you know its in your pint.
- Dropped on beach and various other water bodies.

Then it finally died. I now have a Motorola v980 - crap phone that breaks alot.

I replaced my phone about a mounth ago of my brick like nokia finaly died after years of abuse, Imho no phone will suvive being left in salt water for any length of time (beer is different!). The nokia builder style phone were the best around for me but are no longer being sold.

Orange have given crap service so far.

Use a boxit mobile cover and you'll be fine with any phone.

I'm maybe a little late for this thread, but here goes...

I've been pondering over this myself recently and rather than change the phone, less than a year old, thought this http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=133167 and stick the phone in one of those waterproof 'safe' type things, could be the job.

Hmmm, if you only wanted to take calls the phone could even go in one of those bags that fits inside the Holt-allen type inspection hatches for buoyancy tanks as you don't need to touch the handset.

I, of course at the end of the day would remember it was in the buoyancy tank either once the cover was tied down good and tight or halfway home....

Ive just got a new slidy samsung jobby ( a D900) full of random crap ill never use and I definantly dont fancy its chances aginst a light mist, let alone taking it sailing.

You dont want one of those...

On the other hand (and theres a theme developing here) we put an ex's nokia through quite a bit and it took it all in stride.

By 'quite a bit' I mean washing and drying machines, being thrown out of an upstairs window, and toddlers for a good 15 minutes.

It should be noted that it was the todldlers who eventualy destroyed the phone in a seperate incident. They were my relations, not hers. She wasnt impressed.
