A mate of mine in the marine trade used to go through a phone a month by dropping them in to the bilges of boats. He found out by accident that as long as the phone is off when it goes in, and you flush it through with fresh water, and dry it really quckly (case off, on a radiator), they usually come back to life. It's also worth tryin a new battery as modern ones are intelligent and detect the short created by the water.

That reminds me...... A few weeks ago, I was in the Contender and capsized. The rescue boat came to see if I was OK and one of the guys on board asked me if I knew the club's phone number by heart. There I was, sitting on the centreboard, getting my breath back, and I certainly couldn't remember anything apart from the "Aaaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhh. SPLAOOSH" that had occured a minute before. It transpired that they'd forgotten to order their sandwiches with the galley : that was the only reason why they were so quick to come and check on me!!

Just think, with one of those waterproof mobile phones, you could call your lawyer from the windward mark and get him to place your protest for you before you even come in off the water!

I've seen an older-style Samsung swimming in 2 inches of water for an afternoon. Funnily enough, it doesn't work anymore. HOWEVER, Contender443 dropped (twice) his Sony-Ericsson in water and it came back alive!!

I suggest you go to your local club and see what mobile phones other members use. They will then be able to give you advice on setting up and getting the best use from your mobile phone.
