Apologies, your CREW is going to uni. I saw that when I re-read your post. Sorry sorry sorry. Excuse; I had an accident while sailing at Easter which has damaged my eyesight.(Not believeable but true) |

How about a canoe? Ideal crew weight: Ok so you would be a bit light but then you would be in everything. Hiking boat though, good fun, challenging... and if you got John to buy it you could both sail it and it wouldn’t cost you a penny! Ian

Simply not true. The current Men's world champion is your weight!!! The guy who finished second (and also second at the China test event) is only 1 KG heavier...

As far as Holly and radials are concerned, here's the story so far.... Went there, did that, got BORED ( ![]() Holly, there may be a hybrid prototype in the making that could be perfect for you. Although I think its still in its idea stage at the moment. Doug |

Not sure i'd say the Byte is declining, second hand CIIs seem to be selling as quick as second hand 300s (ie blink and you miss them). Its an ISAF class which is sailed in vast numbers in the North America and far east and has been growing in mainland Europe. Main problem has been the lack of manufactuer support in the UK over the last couple of years and the inevitable problems caused with the introduction of the new rig. Hopefully both of which will be resolved with the a new manufactuer/supplier...watch this space. Oh and its tonnes better than a 368 Actually the best way to do it is to buy a second hand boat without the CII rig and order the rig to go on it, as combined they seem to be worth more than the some of their parts! Vareo isn't a great option, I had one and at 11 stone and 6ft it was too powerful in anything over 12-15 knots. Contender? At my weight I don't find it difficult, and its quick, really quick on a broad reach in breeze. You won't go upwind that quickly but downwind you will fly. Easy to handle with a big rudder and not complicated by spinnakers, and easy to find a cheap one to start with. G |

out of all of them and with your weight at 57kg, i would say a lightning 368,quick and easy to rig/de-rig, centerboard, one rig self draining cockpit, plus you can pick them up cheap sail them for a few years and then flog them for the same money, i have just pick up an ex-nationals winner for 600notes cleaned it up worth a little more, going to use it on windy or crewless days when not sailing my 12
