***TIGER TROPHY VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE***
Written by Bruce Bonar
Thursday, 05 February 2009

In view of the current weather and the deteriorating weather forecast a decision will be made at Midday on Friday 6 February as to whether The Tiger Trophy will take place this weekend.

We have considered all the issues caused by the weather forecast for the weekend. (Issues of people traveling to the event, Issues of safety around the site with ice and snow everywhere and the temperature and snow forecast). The organising team will be meeting on Friday morning and will make a final decision then based on the forecast and advice from road agencies etc.

If the decision is made to cancel the event we will contact all entrants by e mail and post the info on this website and the Tiger Trophy website. We would urge you to check this website or the Tiger Trophy website www.tiger-trophy.com  for more information.

Alternatively you can contact the club office on 01780 720292 from midday on Fri 6 Feb.

20090205_snow Please note that due to the snow that fell overnight and that is still falling currently Sailability has been cancelled today (THURSDAY).  The Chandlery and Catering are also closed today. The office is open as usual.
All the approach roads to the club are very snowy indeed so unless you really have to come to  the club today we would recommend you stear clear until tomorrow (Fri 6 Feb).  We expect business to return to normal tomorrow (Fri 6 Feb).  Watch the website or call the office on 01780 720292 for updates.

Thanks for putting that up Olly.  I guess with most of us, it's not the sailing that's the worry, it's getting there safely, especially with trailers.

We await the verdict.  The local forecast is for it to go down to -5C early on Saturday morning.  I'm not sure I want to drive on that!

Well thats the funniest thing i have vever heard, an hour or so earlier they had posted on Y&Y thatthe tiger happens whatever the weather!!!!  Good thing i paid the £5 extra to have the ability to cancel my hotel room!!  They need to let us know toute sweet though.  I cant see it happening, will they postpone it or refund us our entry fees?  I know part of it is for charity but i am skint at the moment!!

It's clear down here, hope it does go ahead, it would be nice to see how the
Asbo does with someone who can sail properly at the helm.

I'm sorry but this is a little bit over the top. I drive all over the country every week and so far this week have been in london on monday very bad snow and oxford today where the a40 disappeared and have had no problems.

And i also agree with russ (which is unusual as he is my brother) rutland shouldnt have posted something on y&y about the event running in any conditions when its clearly not true. I understand that the club site will be snowy but if they get some volunteers down there to spread grit and shovel some snow it should be alright especially after 200 odd people have driven or walked around the site.
