John,

Pretty much as Cats rule says. You may get away with parking on the road but there are a number of campsites nearby. Will try to look up te one we tend to use.

We usually do Portsmouth St Malo on the way out. Overnight ferry then a couple of hour drive the otherside. Arrive the day before sailing starts if not earlier. Depending on Holiday commitments etc, we either keep an eye on the clock, finish a bit early, quick derig and try to make the Caan ferry in the evening on the last day. Alternative is the following days crossing from St malo.

You got the racing days wrong it starts on the thursday after lunch with a briefing in the morning, either Friday or Saturday are allocated to be the long dis race. With the final racing then prize giving on Sunday.

When you go is really up to you and how much time training you want there. Its advisable not to get there on the thursday morning, a fellow brit team ended up doing that in the dragoon and they were not in great shape to go sailing later that day. You can go sailing from several days before so if you want some practice there you can get it.

I'm not sure about your van, but i remember Paul Butler with his camper just parked it on the road opposite the beach where there was car parking

There's no such thing as bad day on the water!!

Is anyone planning to go to Carnac this year despite pound being on its knees against the Euro.

I have never been to Carnac before so I am after some advice.

Went is the best time to go? I understand that the racing starts on the Friday and finishes on the Sunday so do most people aim to get there for the Thursday and when do most people aim to leave?

Where do people camp. I am taking the big ugly van so do I need to book this into a camp site if so which is the best and nearest to the venue?

Do people to the Dover Calais route and take the long drive or opt for the Cherbourg route?

I have been copies in on an email form Nick from the Hobie association which gives me some ideas but any other advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
