Congratulations Mags. Best way to get them sailing is to tell them they will hate it and that they wont want to come out with you. The attraction of something not available will work wonders |

Dear Dave,
I have a new baby daughter, which makes 3 now. How can I brainwash them all to love sailing, and prepare them to become a gold medal-winning team in the Elliott 6m at the Olympics? Or will ISAF have finally accepted the 29erXX by then.... Thanks for your words of wisdom, Mags |

Dave, as ever, you are the font of all knowledge !
In the meantime we have found a bloke that says he'll be able to replace said element (thus saving the Christmas roast dinner) and therefore saving your salad dressing option for another occasion ( I think that I know a similar recipe?) Thanks as ever for your prompt response, Nigel |

Simply type carbon, lightweight, cool, extreme, breaks easily,in the dinghy thread and they will find you. Them cheb kids won't be able to fix it though without first posting loads of pictures of 'CAD' drawings on the chebs forum showing what they are going to build. If they do this your element will look nothing like their design. Don't trust them. They spend too long with their heads in a resin vat to think straight. Pop to an electrical shop tomorrow if one is open, the elements are cheap and a piece of pi$$ to replace. I've got a salad dressing your missus will love, strictly only for the ladies though. |

Dear Dave,
'er indoors is not happy because the element has burnt out in our cooker's fan oven. This has put the prospect of a nice roast dinner in some danger........how do I get hold of one of those cherub sailors, they seem to be able to fix anything to anything with porridge and carbon - do think they would be able to fix the element? ..........and if so how do I go about trying to contact one of them ? Many thanks in advance, Nigel ![]() P.S........or can you recommend a decent salad dressing ? |

PS. Sign of the times: in the olden days (when I was young), we used to walk to the nearest petrol station or call a mate who could give you a lift. Now, the first thing to do is to post your mishap on Facebook. Maybe your motorized mate will jump to the rescue by SuperPoking you! Edited by Black no sugar |

Join the AA, remove a couple of fuses so the car doesn't 'turn over' and get a free lift home
It is of vital importance in this situation that you name and shame the individual concerned, has no dignity left. |

I quote the following from a member of this forum's Facebook .. I have removed the name to save a small shred of his dignity ..
What should one do if ever faced with this following situation? Are there any lessons to be learnt from his failure? |

drink a bottle of wine each morning before you go sailing, then when at the club whittle the cork to shape and the problem is solved. or take it home with you |
