Well once upon a time there was this stigma attached to sailors, that we're
all gay! So we decided to prove how MANLY and 'ARD we all are and have
the big events in the most horrible and coldest of times!!

Sensible answer time!
Class circuits tend to run through the summer. Less people want to sail during the winter, and even less want to travel, so handicap racing is the answer to getting a big turnout from the remaining pool of fools.

I may be there in the merlin, just need to make some new sails, sort out the rig, and convince the other half that winter sailing is a good idea!

Other answer being, windsurfers dont come out of hybernation untill late spring and by running the events lete winter time means that the likes of you are still complaining about the cold and dont take part.

You would think that with the increase in handicap racing that there would be a decent handicap event on in the spring/summer.  The Lord Birkett is the only one that springs to mind, and that's 8 hours from civilisation!

I'm back!

Had a few distractions from sailing.. But the distraction is gone now. My lesson is learnt, Sailing is officially better than women..!

Because of my little distraction I lost my crew so I now need a crew again.. not having the best luck . So if anyone wants to crew or even helm for me cos i just want to sail!

But yea anyway I will be sailing.. Whether its in the 49er or not depends on me getting a helm/crew. But if anyone can't be bothered to bring a boat but wants to sail my 9er then let me know! I will helm/crew for you!
