Like several other I play Guitar for my own pleasure. My wife will tell you it's definately not for her pleasure. Although when I was playing at a barbeque in the summer everyone seemed impressed.

I've got a Legend Tele copy with a really neat Welsh Dragon paint job. Main effects I use are Chorus and Echo.

I've also got a round back acoustic.

What sort of stuff do people play? With me it's mainly Rock or Metal. Most days the first song I'd play would be by The Police or Rush.

Which leads nicely on to the fact both bands are releasing DVDs from their tours last year on Monday. And as I saw them on consecutive Fridays last October you can guess where I'll be spending next Monday.

Why do you say that, Ross? I agree, I'd just like to know your reasons!

Met my wife (to be) in the band where I played bass guitar at 17. Happy days!

Now we have our 4 guitars under the bed, gathering dust. Really must pick them up sometime, but it means painful fingers all over again.

Anyone else on here mad about MIDI?

Peter - seems to be a thing with guitar players. I'm an ex-pro bass player (plus double bass to diploma standard) and I've had the same 3 instruments for over 15 years now. Aria SB1000 for general use, just a lovely instrument with the best neck of any bass i've ever played, plus a WAL Custom fretless and my double bass which is a 19th century English instrument given to me when I was 18. I've tried lots and lots of other kit, but never found anything that sounds and feels like these. Even modern luthier-built instruments don't seem to have the feel and warmth of the Aria, and the WAL is just special! I've been offered stupid money for the double bass, but tempting as a couple of brand new FD's is, I'll not part with it.

Neil

Piano, guitar, mandolin, diatonic accordion and random percussion. Likewise not great at playing any, but get a lot of pleasure from them. Have recorded a fair bit of stuff and used to perform quite regularly.

USA Fender Telecaster, Takamine Electro Acoustic, 5 String Banjo, Keyboard, Mandolin, Cello and Violin.  Not great at playing any of them...but gives me pleasure playing and owning.
