I am currently sailing an F18 at the moment but i am selling it at the end of the season and changing class to something i can compeat in since im about 100kg i would need a crew about 50kg to race cats which is hard to come by. I was thinking about an 18ft skiff and getting 2 light weight crew to balance it out plus you can change the sail area to what ever you want. Any one got any thoughts on ways foward?

what about a singlehander?whats your sailing experiance as a 18fter would be expensive and not good if you dont like it.

At 100kg's you are at the top end for a Contender, or Phantom. Bonezzi is 95kg IIRC and he is Contender World Champion 7 times over |

well sailing a hobie tiger is fairly high performance so i wouldnt really want to step down, more of a step up.

Have you got much experience in monohuls? The Skiff is past the limit of a lot of sailors. Have you thought about something not quite so extreme, there are a lot of weight equalised boats out on the market now, that should help you find something that suits. If you do go for a Skiff can we be the first to see the photos |

A musto skiff or a 700 surely?
I Heard sten got up to the high 90's (although maybe just a rumour) and that didnt stop him winning. And the 700 has an even bigger mainsail and kite than the musto, with weight equalisation too. And i dont think anyone would consider those boats a step down. Doug |

The other week i went out on the 49er for the first time in 23knots with the kite up and instantly though it was easy but i did enjoy it. the sail trim is basicily the same as a cat with a kite, i just had to be bit more carefull with weight placement.
