Hey im thinking of getting an RS600. Im 16, about 5ft 8" and 60kgs or so. Will i be too light? I wouldnt be racing it as ill be doing that in the 420 at the club etc. Id probably sail it at Dee SC. I do have trapeze experience but only as a crew.

So would i be too light? Would there be any alternatives?

Thanks.

60kg is probably a tad light but i think you'll be fine if you use the diddy rig to start with and lots and lots of downhaul and kicker. The 600 is a lot more about technique than grunt, but dont expect to be able to sail it immediately.
600 732, will call it Sticks and Stones when i get round to it.
Also International 14, 1318

Too light for what? If you're not going to race it then why would it make any great difference, except that you might want to stop playing in about 5% knots less wind...

I'm only a bit heavier than you mate, and love it, but yeah starting on baby rig is a real help, makes it easier to tack and get your manoevers sorted :].

Also aim for one with wide wings, obviously... :]

You're the same weight and height as Ian Marshall who has won his fair share of windy RS600 opens - go for it!

If you ask around on the Yahoo Group you can usually find someone to swap wings with if you buy a narrow-winged boat.
