The Tornado looks like the easy choice to me. It has managed the remarkable feat of not looking dated after, what 40 years, unlike any of its contemporary International Classes. F18s have little international distribution and Hobie 16s are't really quite what the games should be about.

How much does a Fin cost compared to half the cost of a Tornado (split $$ between crew)?

How much does a Star or Yngling cost split  ways?

The T numbers at the Top level probably has more to do with the number off allocated slots at the games. (16)

the star wont ever go cos its the star. pile of crap in my opinion (they look awful), but ISAF love them and there is some good competition in there, they also had the best racing in 2008.

There should be a cat class though. In my opinion something cheaper, and more limited. The new proposals for a OD tornado are intresting.

I dont see anything really wrong with the previous 2008 line up. Apart from (just my opinion) the tornado. I really am struggling to see the reasons behind womens match racing. I couldnt think of anything worse, well actually a finn bobbing down wind in 2 kts of wind wasnt particuarly great to watch.

But the T is not the most expensive boat at the games!!!!

One of the key factors we are talking about having or not having catamarans at the Olympics (rather than just having or not having a specific class of boat, so we could lose a whole discipline).

I think the advent of a one design tornado will help the situation.

I personally would like to see it come back into the limelight.

Removing a class from the Olympics only dents that class, removing a Catamaran boat from the Olympic woud affect the entire Catamaran community as it has not been portrayed in front of the Global Audience so they don;t know it exists.

I do hope for the Cat sailors that they do listen and put in back within the Sailing Itinery for the 2012 in WPNSA

I am actually "emotionally involved" with the final decision but I was very pleased to read the following in Seahorse:

"I can say with confidence that a multihull class will be included in the 2012 Olympics"

Victor Kovalenko

Also the wording "re-instating "an eleven event sounds much more positive to me.
