sailed a full rig laser today...
Having missed out from sailing on Saturday ina 20-25knts breeze having to do my lifeguard course exam in the morning. I arrived to a mirror of a lake this morning(sunday) for the first HYDRS training session of the 08-09 series, alongside the blym winter series. The wind picked up a little (4knts) for the start of the 1st race, the wind was always chaning and maxed out at 6knts! pretty much lead from the start. Most shocking bit was BEATING a Phantom!! ![]() race 2 was pretty much the same, although had a enterprise being sailing solo keeping up with me this time. the beat for both races were fairly weird with the right side being best til halfway up then then left side being better. ![]() Edited by ratface |

saw the new rags on sunday and they are very very cool, espeically for £150!
now all i need to do is finish the hull and fit it out with all the harken gear and we'll be sorted! Saturday took the dads broads cruiser out for a spin on barton broad, was only 30knts! Sunday was going to go ribbing on the east coast (sea paling) but saw the shipping forecast and quickly changed our minds, ended up doing the racing at blym instead, but arriving late found i had to use a radial, and with me weighing 90kg ish with 1-2knts that didnt end well! Afternoon had a sail with the HYDRS.. |

Arrived at the club at about 9.30 to the whole lake covered in white horses - and I am going out on a 505 for the first time in 18 months! Fortunately once we had re-rigged the boat (it had been to the worlds) the wind had dropped to a more manageable 12-15kts. Went out for the 2nd race and had a blast - covered in bruises this morning though |

I am still scraping. By the time the boat is ready, I will have forgotten how to sail. Plus I have a list of tasks/projects that could see me well into the next decade....

We had the centre of the low over Hunts so winds were light and shifty and generally from the North East. Almost perfect 8.1 conditions, shame I cannot complete the series really I would stand a good chance if it stays light!

18 - 20 knots up in Yorkshire! I had a great sail, I'm now thinking of investing in a GPS as I think I'm getting some respectable speeds now, and the crashes are getting less frequent |

Saturday - Drilled some holes in someone elses boat, rebuilt his kicker, and saw the worried look on his face when I started lifting the boat by the kicker ... (Went and practiced reversing with the trailer on in an industrial estate in Watford .. I can now do a s-turn in reverse with the boat on the back, and get it into a bay ... without unhitching! Sunday - Was still asleep when they started the races! Vareo is packed up for Grafham already, and I had other plans ... Good job too, after hearing what the wind was (or wasnt ... ) like! |
