errrrm when i say never sailed anything like it i mean i have sailed fevas and toppers. having got bored of a crew and being way too heavy i am wondering what to do. a freind of mine got a 6 and wont let me have a go because "ill break it" so now i want to show him up. do you know if there if i can arrange a demo nearer the solent.

600 732, will call it Sticks and Stones when i get round to it.

Dave sails at Datchet, for Oxford try a chap called Damon Bower, contact details are on the RS Association website

For a sail near the Solent, if you ask Damon really nicely he might arrange for the demo boat to be taken to one of the forthcoming opens, either Lymington on 8-9 July or Weston on 12-13 August

The semi battened sail makes a lot of difference to taming it, but the key is the hull shape which is a lot more rounded on the 600

Indeed.  I've sailed both (owned a 600 for a while, great boat - the windier the better!), the 700 is much easier in that (a) the soft sail makes the boat very docile when launching (the 600 can be a handful) and (b) the 700's hull shape makes it directionally very stable - it tracks in a straight line with very little input from the 'guest' on board whereas the 600 can be quite skittish.  Point (b) is a deliberate design feature to make getting the kite up & down easier.  Overall the 700 feels like a bigger more stable thing which I think makes is less fun and less involving in all respects (except when it comes to the kite uppy/downy bits and the answer to those is to have someone else on board to do that job ).

Weston sailing Club on Southampton Water - www.weston.org.uk

They've got about 10 RS600's there so if you are Solent based and end up buying a 600, it's worth a look

considering the thread was titled rs600 i really dont think your input of a 6ft skiff was relavant. Also none are built yet and i want to do the open circuit. Keep sailing your 4k
Go Big or Go home or sail a 49er!!!
