From what ive heard, sadly not on the stability front. Apparently trying to get the fore and aft trim right can prove hazzardous to say the least. Im not sure how it fairs against the moth speedwise overall but i hear the 600 is able to sail lower downwind (due to its monster main size) whilst keeping a relatively similar speed. Although dont quote me on any of this, its just hearsay! |

The foils certaily add to lateral stability on Moths. Whether they add as much stability as a big fat RS600 hull is quite another matter

When foiling, the speed musr be proportional to drive force and drag - since the foils are the only things in the water.
sail force provides the drive, and weight makes the drag. So the balance is between more sail force, and higher weight. I would guess that the moth wins! The heavier moth sailors in foilers are at a disadvantage for the same reason. And if i was to crash at 25 kts then I would prefer to be in toestraps and fixed to the boat, than on a trapeze ( with a broken ankle or sliced by the shrouds ) Edited by I luv Wight |

love to see a video of this going but im guessing theres not one around, must be very scary so far out on the wings knowing that a lull could chuck you over the front. Good fun though

There is a video, but it is firmly on Alex Adams laptop and I haven't seen it on the web...
I'm with I luv Wight on this one - when you stack a moth it will hurt much less. |

Having benn to the 29er worlds at weymouth last week, i happened to notice a rather tired looking 600 with some modifications round the corner of the Full Force building. I think the project may have been abandoned unless there was another/MK 2 version inside - It didn't look like it had been used in a while.

No, I'm afraid it's not. And I don't know that anyone out there intends to make it publicly available in the forseeable future.
