i got some silicolne spray (cheaper version of all this prolube etc) in the bottom of my feva after putting it on the main block and i couldnt get across the boat, it was so slippy. i got it off with washing up liquid in the end but it was a nightmare roll tacking in f1.

Probably wouldn't actually make any difference. If the surface is smooth enough for there to be laminar flow the actual coeffecient of fritcion of the surface is probably pretty much irrelevant, and if the foils aren't smooth it certainly wo't help... Personally I have enough trouble not slipping off a properly polished daggerboard to want to put a lubricant on...

McLube is pretty good. I put some on the mast track of my 14 and the main goes up 10x easier now, I would def always do this after seeing the difference.

My crew though it would be a great idea to put it in the daggerboard without telling me... This was fine until we binned it on a gybe and I tried to right it! The boat was just impossible to get back up again, it was like a daggerboard made out of ice or something. Prob took about 10mins to right it again. I was not impressed  

Do not do this.

I've got a lot of biking mates who swear by Muc Off, and they've now started a version for boats too. Yes, MTB is mountain bike, What Mountain Bike is know as WhatMTB.. but Mountain Biking UK is MBUK! (They're magazines btw)
