The moth could put its foils in upside down if it wasnt foiling conditions making it a good light wind boat.

i love foiling moths (doesn't everyone?) they should so be in the olympics

plus apparently you can adjust the moth for different heights so no stupid height bias

Really?
Remember the fuss getting kicked up around the more well funded nations developing better europe rigs? (the main reason why it was dumped in favour of the radial as I understand it) what would happen if that was unleashed on an all out development class I wonder...

The only option would be to freeze the moths development (is that really gonna happen?)

...Or to take one design and splinter it off as was suggested earlier to let the moths continue development but have a onedesign hull/rig/foils setup for the olympics. Whos going to want to sail what is effectively a totaly outdated moth in 10 years time when the main fleet has moved on and is doing the same thing but faster and with greater ease.

Run that by me again? You know the 'height envy' picture was a joke, right?

yes of course i do. its just the radial can't really be sailed by a smaller person so the short sailors are left out. i was talking to this guy who was a former moth world champion and he said that they could be adjusted for different heights because you effectiveley design your own

The best thing for height envy seems to be the sliding seat. When you're sitting on the end of that it makes pretty much no difference how short or tall you are.

The moth does give you plenty of scope to customise the rig to suit you like any box rule and indeed all the less restrictive one design classes.

because the fact of the matter is we're smaller than you guys. while you can fly around in a finn or a laser classic in pretty much anything women would struggle to keep it upright unless we resembled some eastern european "helga the horrible" figure.

hey this brings me onto why the open class is now the finn dinghy, a dingy which most men would stuggle to sail, surely its a way of squeezing another mens singlehander into the olympics without being called sexist for it. why was the finn switched and not the europe?

(idea from left field)

As it looks like the sailing in China will be light, any country fancy entering women in the Finn/Tornado etc as they will be lighter ?

Entering an all female feva or mirror crew into the tornados should pretty much guarantee it blows its tits off for the whole regatta! Do it!
